As we look back on 2016, we want to acknowledge four organizations whose year-round efforts strengthen our community. We are inspired by their unwavering commitment to helping others.

Climb to Safety

Climb to Safety is devoted to teaching financial literacy to elementary school students. Formed by Forum Advisor Michelle Weindruch, CFP®, Climb to Safety endeavors to bridge the financial knowledge gap and prepare students for many of the complex financial issues they will encounter as adults. DuPagePads is committed to ending homelessness in DuPage County by providing interim and permanent housing as well as ongoing support services. Bringing together civic, faith-based and social services groups, local businesses and human service agencies, DuPagePads addresses the needs of the homeless population with the support of more than 4,000 volunteers. Earlier this year, Forum Partner Mary Pat Wesche, CPA, PFS, CDFA®, CFP® received the 2016 DuPage Pads Spirit Award for her work with the organization. For more information, visit

Lurie Children’s Foundation

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and Lurie Children’s Foundation are focused on providing high-quality pediatric care and research for the health and well-being of all children. The hospital is the largest pediatric provider in the region and helps children from all 50 states. In 2015, more than 1,200 volunteers spent more than 58,000 hours with patients and families providing rest for parents, hospitality, play activities and other services. For more information, visit

Special Olympics Illinois

Special Olympics Illinois is dedicated to changing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by addressing the global injustice, isolation, intolerance and inactivity they face. Through statewide programming, Special Olympics Illinois provides opportunities for more than 20,000 athletes with the help of thousands of volunteers throughout Illinois.
